I understand that words must lead to action, which is why I will set clear benchmarks for our progress and regularly report back to the community. Together, we can break the cycle of despair and work towards a brighter future for Deep East Oakland.
Housing
Must have affordable housing. People need to have stability and security to be productive members of society. Collaborate with developers to create affordable housing units. Use incentives for properties that include affordable housing options. We also need clear paths to homeownership to create stable neighborhoods that people have roots in, fostering community pride and ownership.
Economic Revitalization
Promote local businesses by creating incentives for investment in district 7 and improve infrastructure. Collaborating with local stakeholders, we can develop tailored strategies to attract customers and foster a vibrant retail environment. This includes leveraging partnerships with regional bodies to ensure that our community receives the necessary support.
Job training programs that are direct pipelines to jobs that pay a living wage. Emphasizes collaboration, education, and community engagement to revive employment in District 7. By leveraging local resources and fostering a supportive environment, the community can work together to create sustainable job opportunities.
Illegal dumping
To effectively address and end illegal dumping of trash, waste, and toxic materials in Oakland's District 7, a comprehensive and multi-faceted approach is necessary. Identify areas most affected by illegal dumping. Enforcement and Monitoring, create a system for residents to report illegal dumping anonymously, (that works) providing incentives for reporting to encourage community involvement.
